Gaining Employment Skills with MAS
My journey from healthcare to law

I studied Biomedical Sciences at university and during Covid volunteered as a vaccine champion with MAS. I was already thinking of switching from health sciences to law and found out about the work at the advice desk drop-ins. I worked with the team for a few months and learnt a lot from the experience - how to handle confused clients, ask the right questions, take accurate notes, and make enquiries on their behalf. After a while I got an internship at South West London Law Centres where I spent 6 months as a researcher for the immigration team whilst waiting to start my law conversion degree. Both assignments helped me hugely when it later came to applying for internships and training contracts - I got two offers! I have now been with Bird & Bird for nearly two years and will graduate as a Qualified Solicitor in September 2026.
